How Can I Participate?

Published: 2014Updated: 26 October 2023

NAMBLA’s strength depends solely on its supporters. This means you, the person reading this page. Sure, there are people already supporting our common effort, but we need a wider base to assure continuity and stay strong. Without you, we risk gradually fading away.

By sincerely participating in legal ways we will suggest below, you will become part of a community of mutual support and trust.

So, how specifically can you participate and help? Both money and skills are needed. The former is easy. Let’s start with the latter.

All sorts of skills are needed for the work of presenting ideas to the world. You probably have your own perspective and experiences to draw on in making the case for how man-boy relationships (not necessarily erotically expressed) are a vital part of the social fabric, now threatened by hysteria.

Here are some ways you can contribute your ideas.

• Good writing of all kinds promotes understanding
1
Translating material on our website into any language you may be fluent in. Even though Today's AI translations are a help, they may not capture the subtleties possessed by fluent speakers.
• Graphic design
• Research
2
• Artistic skills, such as drawing or painting (
Of course, in the current climate, we will not be publishing any nudity and we request that you not send nude images.)
• Corresponding with prison inmates 3
• Cartooning
• Video editing
• html and php coding
• Music editing
• Anything else you feel you are good at and can be used to promote our ideas

Do not hesitate to write to us at info@nambla.org for details on how to get started. We will be glad to guide you on how to put your efforts to good use.

If you have seen Christopher’s cartoon page commenting on culture and hypocrisy, you may be inspired on how a prison inmate can, with few resources and initially little practice, create imaginative societal critiques. You too surely have talents to contribute to our efforts. Choose one from the list above or suggest a skill you have that we have not yet listed.

If you do not yet think that you have any particular skill to contribute, feel that you do not now have the time or simply want to give support because you strongly agree that all have a right to present their opinions without prejudice, then donating funds will at the very least help us pay the bills. Mail service, a web server, domain fees and banking fees are some of the bills that need to be paid on a regular basis.

We suggest a basic supporting yearly donation of $40, which entitles you to some advantages – including 20% off NAMBLA publications. Of course any amount is welcome, large or small.

If donating by check or money order, the payee is simply “NAMBLA.” Cash is also acceptable. We have never had a problem with it but it is of course somewhat less secure. Email us if you wish us to suggest some other method of payment more convenient to you. If mailing money, use the following address (#8418 identifies our account):

537 Jones St. #8418
San Francisco CA 94102

Your volunteering both skills and funds is the best of both worlds, but we will be happy with either.

Be part of the better vision of what our society can be. People have always feared radical truths. They feared Galileo’s heliocentric model upsetting the religious orthodoxies of the day. They feared Darwin’s discovery of evolution because it seemed to debase being human. Now they fear NAMBLA’s ideas, but probably not for long.
If you doubt NAMBLA’s influence on the culture, you would be mistaken. Many thinking people know our message and know we are right. They however fear suffering the opprobrium that resisting group thinking brings. But history tells us that damaging orthodoxies holding societies back do collapse and allow fresh ideas to blossom. Be part of history.

1 We are expanding our on-line presence and need fresh material on any of a wide range of subjects. If you have something to say and have been looking for a forum, consider submitting your work for our web site or publications. We especially encourage youth to send us your views, since our main point has always been that the views of young people should be taken seriously.

We welcome all kinds of writing, from news reporting and analysis to opinion pieces to original fiction and book reviews to scholarly articles, non-fiction, and everything in between. You may use the topics index of our home page as a guide, but don't feel that you have to fit within those listed. We are looking for diverse views and expressions that reflect the benevolent nature of man/boy love and the injustice inherent in efforts to suppress it, as well as constructive dialog on all related issues. All submissions are welcome, but as always, we reserve the right to select what we will publish.

2 The facts strongly support our case. The more clearly we present them, the stronger our case becomes. We need any help you can provide with the basic work of identifying, assembling and/or analyzing the most recent and relevant information, statistics and peer-reviewed research on subjects including the character and outcomes of man/boy love relationships, the realities of child neglect and abuse, the true effects of policies which criminalize love and reward authoritarianism, the misleading nature of mainstream media on these subjects, and the lies and distortions promulgated by various parties with vested interests in fueling the anti-man/boy-love hysteria including an analysis of what they stand to gain.

You don't necessarily have to be a writer or an academic to help. There are many ways of contributing to our work in this area if you're not certain whether your contribution is needed, just ask us using the e-mail below.

3 Individuals imprisoned on sexual matters are especially vulnerable. For this reason, we need to be especially careful in providing pen pal services. A volunteer’s previous history of participating in our various efforts is one possible avenue for becoming a pen pal. You may inquire us for other ways of qualifying.
